The term 'jacket crown' historically refers to a full-coverage ceramic crown without metal. We treat it as our all-ceramic crown line IPS e.max® and ProXzir® Porcelain-Layered and prescribe by case complexity.
ProXzir® Porcelain-Layered (PLZ) is our primary choice for dark-stump masking. The high-density zirconia coping blocks underlying color; the porcelain layer delivers vital esthetics on top.
For high-load patients, step up to ProXzir® Super Solid (SS1400) — monolithic zirconia at 1400 MPa. Jacket crowns prioritize esthetics; if occlusal load is the primary risk, prescribe a stronger tier.
